This is a CHALLENGE. This is NOT a contest.
All over the globe contests abound, and more are popping up every day. But are contests the only way to make a name for oneself?
Contests are limited to a specific geographical area where contestants are required to participate in a designated venue located in a central popular location. Locations like these can be located half way around the planet from the wannabe contestant who may not be able to afford travel and lodging expenses much less the registration and application fees. Many dancers will simply never have the funds for an opportunity to showcase their talents nor be able to realize a steller performance in a public setting such as these outreaching locations offer. Are you one of these? Or maybe you just want to particpate!
The Internet plays a huge part in our lives. It reaches the entire planet. This Internet Belly Dance Choreography and Dance Challenge affords the opportunity to belly dancers who can submit their work via video, and provides for the entire planet to view the talents of these belly dancers unable to participate in these contests. Are you up for the Challenge?
The music for this Challenge is accessible below in the footer of this website. The Challenge is to choreograph a dance performance piece in full costume and makeup to the music, video tape it, upload it onto Youtube.com in "public" mode, and email the link to firstname.lastname@example.org. Each and every video entry will then be placed on this website. Instead of judges -- usually an invited group of people handpicked by the contest producer -- a World Wide Web audience from every country will be invited to choose a favorite choreographed performance. Choreographies will not be judged; they will be favorited by everyone who sees them.
All videos will then be ranked and placed according to the most favorite of the World Wide Web audience along with the name of the choreographer/dancer and a brief bio. The most favorited artist/choreographer of the current Challenge will have top ranking. All videos will be archived and placed on a separate page in future Challenges.
